Length of course:4 induction days, 2 evidence collection days and a series of 1:1 tutorials with your Assessor. Actual Signs’ candidates are supported and encouraged to complete a portfolio of BSL evidence within 6 months.
Times:10am - 4pm

 

Course Description

Before enrolling, all candidates will meet with the Actual Signs Assessor to determine their suitability for this course.

 

Induction

In the group induction, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn more about the procedures of the NVQ programme
  • Be clear about the roles and responsibilities of the NVQ team 
  • Be aware of the policies set out by Signature and Actual Signs e.g. appeals 
  • Understand the NVQ Standards 
  • Plan and create different types of evidence 
  • Find out more about collecting evidence and the paperwork in the portfolio

Following the four induction days, you will be allocated an assessor and can begin the process of collecting evidence. This will be compiled in a portfolio provided by Actual Signs. Evidence will be reviewed in one-to-one tutorials with your assessor.

Tutorials

In your tutorials your assessor will:

  • Help you prepare your assessment plan
  • Analyse and give feedback on your evidence
  • Offer guidance about suitability of evidence and ways to improve
  • Provide advice and support with collecting evidence if any problems arise
  • Help to prepare the portfolio for final submission

Evidence Collection Days

In our evidence collection days, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet with a variety of Deaf people in our offices to film BSL video evidence for your NVQ portfolio
  • Gather 1:1 formal and informal conversation BSL video evidence
  • Gather group formal and informal conversation BSL video evidence
  • Ask for clarification about specific BSL signs, linguistic rules or from native BSL users
  • Ask for clarification about any aspect of the NVQ evidence collecting process
Certifcation:Signature Level 3 NVQ Certificate in BSL
Course fee:SUMMER SPECIAL £1,150 including VAT
Signature fees:

£130 including VAT. This is £65 for units BSL311 and BSL312.

Induction days run from 10am to 4pm. Dates for evidence collection days will be arranged with your group at the final induction day and 1:1 tutorial dates will be arranged individually with your Assessor.

Important note:

Participants must be aged 16 years or over

Staff/teachers/assessors at Actual Signs have their own Disclosure certificate

All payments must be paid in full before the course starts. Charges will be imposed for late payments.

Refreshments: Tea/Coffee and biscuits will be provided. Candidates may bring their own lunch or visit a local café or shops. Kitchen facilities including fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle are available.
