Introduction and Level 1 in British Sign Language

We offer Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) National Units in British Sign Language (BSL): An Introduction and British Sign Language Level 1.

BSL: An Introduction

BSL: An Introduction is designed to prepare you for BSL Level 1 by introducing you to British Sign Language and Deaf Culture and will enable camdidates to use BSL in simple situations to produce, respond to and receive communication about everyday personal matters. BSL Level 1

BSL Level 1 will build on this basic proficiency and allow candidates to converse and negotiate with Deaf BSL users on matters of mutual interest, understand presentations and convey simple information in BSL. Candidates completing this SQA qualification often go on to consolidate and advance their BSL with the next stage of learning, BSL Level 2.
