Should you match the sign used by the other party in the conversation if you use an alternative BSL sign? | Monday PM Is BSL recognized as having exactly the same strength as English? When is English being introduced instead of retaining pure BSL as a native signer would use?
Tuesday AM How do you keep professional boundaries and enjoy new and established relationships with Deaf students and clients? We will look at examples of real life situations and share our experiences of success and difficulties. | Tuesday PM How do you reinforce understanding and subtly ask for more information to reflect the Deaf student or client’s exact level of desire for further conversation or information?
Wednesday AM What part do you play in ensuring the power lies solely with the Deaf student and lecturer? Is this possible in reality? | Wednesday PM Do time pressures mean you undertake tasks that should be the responsibility of the Deaf person? For example, would they be able to undertake an entire process independently from beginning to end or have they just provided you with the information required? |
Thursday AM Learn how to agree on jargon signs that will be used, the visual links to jargon signs and how to research jargon before a new assignment. | Thursday PM
Friday AM See live examples and specially prepared video clips of highly visual BSL. Learn how you can use more visual BSL in your everyday signing, when describing things that you have seen and when interpreting from English. | Friday PM Are you confident when creating BSL signs or describing a visual picture? Do you know how to retain the BSL linguistic rules when creating a sign and how to agree with the Deaf student or client on signs that are being created? |
