Course Description

Before enrolling, all candidates are required to attend an initial interview to determine their suitability for this course.

There are two teaching elements to this course:

  1. Linguistic information with practical exercises to improve your signing
  2. Information about the NVQ structure

Both of these elements work together to ensure that your signing has improved significantly and that you are prepared with background knowledge of the Level 3 NVQ.

  • Expanding vocabulary
  • Exploring topic-specific language
  • Introducing resources
  • Developing grammatical knowledge
  • Exploring visuality & spatial use
  • Use of grammatical and personal space
  • NMFs and the importance of co-articulation
  • Productive lexicon
  • NMF analysis
  • Enhancing receptive skills
  • Developing syntax knowledge
  • Register / variety in Language
  • Developing conversation skills in BSL
  • NVQ Level 3 assessment criteria

 

Assessment

There will be no assessment/examination in this course. However during the course, your trainer will give you ongoing feedback in order for you to improve your BSL skills in readiness for Signature Level 3 NVQ in BSL, should you wish to continue on to this course.

Certifcation:Candidates will receive a Certificate of Attendance

Important note:

Participants must be aged 16 years or over

Staff/teachers/assessors at Actual Signs have their own Disclosure certificate

All payments must be paid in full before the course starts. Charges will be imposed for late payments.

Refreshments: Tea/Coffee and biscuits will be provided. Candidates may bring their own lunch or visit a local café or shops. Kitchen facilities including fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle are available.
